Summer learning Journey Swimming task

This week we are swimming again and we have a task board and from that task board we need to complete 3 tasks.The task I have complete is a task from the summer learning Journey. I did the kick start one. The kick start one was to create a super hero using crayion

Week 8 swimming work

Hi everyone!!

This and next week for have swimming and while we are not at swimming we stay and school and complete a task board. Which had a Reading task,Math,Writing,PB4L and Cybersmart. We had to complete at least 3 of these I completed reading task and maths task, PB4L and a writing task. All the task were fun and easy.

READING

The reading create task was to watch a story called If i built a school and them complete a slideshow about our school here it is.

MATH

The maths task was to watch a video about tessellation and create one tessellation and one  that is not a tessellation then explain what a tessellation is on our blog post. So now I will explain what a tessellation is. So tessellation is one shape used over and over again to create a image. The create task was to make a tessellation and make something that is not a tessellation so here it is.

PB4l

For PB4L we had to watch a story called you me and empathy. Then we had to complete a Y chart about empathy.Here it is.

Writing

For the writing task we had to chose a topic and write about it the topic. I wrote about Maths should math be a compulsory subject at school?

Maths Activity 4

WALT:Add decimals using a partitioning strategy

Hi Everyone!!

Today for maths (well actually for the past 2 math lessons). We had have been looking at map and adding the distances on the map. Like from the swimming pool to the library. For the create part we had to go onto google map and take a screenshot of the area around wigram primary school and create map. So it shows the distance from the different places around wigram primary to other places. I really enjoyed this activity here is my map.

Reading Create Task Week 7 Term 4

WALT: Think critically about texts

Hi everyone!!

This week for reading I have been reading a story called Hero which is a story about… you will find out in my create tasks as create task 1 was to summarise our journal text which in my case I had to summarise Hero. Create task 2 was record our self reading our text with good expression and reading the punctuation correctly. Create task 3 was to make a pixton of someone breaking a rule at the beach. The follow up task was to summarise our instructional reading story the mohawk.I did all three of the create task this week I am so happy yay! Here are my create tasks and the follow up task.

The Mohawk is about a boy called Leo. Leo got a Mohawk in the holiday because he like mohawks and in his new intermediate he did not want to blend into the crowed he wanted to be noticed. So he got the Mohawk. But when he went to school he did not get the reaction he wanted His friends Apo and Dylan question his Mohawk and did not like it. Dylan appreciated it and how he looked, but Apo gave him the weird look and did not like it. His teacher Matua Glen noticed that something was wrong and gave him 2 website address to look at after school. He looked at one website the first one was about the history of mohawks and the second one was about animal rights in New Zealand. His brother got home and asked him about his Mohawk. HIs brother really liked his Mohawks so he told his brother that we would get one to so they looked and the animal rights website they noticed that his teacher Matua Glen had a bright red mohawks when we saw that he looked at the different mohawks people had and stared appreciated his mohawk. Plus he also did not care about what other people said about his mohawk.

Reading create task Term 4 week 6

WALT:Think critically about the text

Hi everyone!

This week for reading for our instructional reading we were reading a story called All as one. Which is describing a mosque in Wellington . This week for reading their were 6 texts you could chose from is Look,listen swim, Polar bear swim,  Hero, Staying afloat, and As smooth as Silk. I chose Polar bear swim. Polar bear swim is about… You will find out in my create task as one of my create task was to summarise my journal text. Create task 2 was represent 5 rules to stay safe at the beach I did this on the slideshow. Create task 3 was to complete a slideshow about swimming. For the follow up create task we had to create 6 boxes that had questions in them and then answer them.

Polar Bear Swim (Summary)

Navah and Sam are good friends. Sam asked Navah if he wanted to go for a midwinter swim in June. Sam told Navah that if would sign up he would sign up to. S like that Navah Signed up and so did Sam. They arrived at the beach They got changed into their togs and ran to the sea. They did a quick dunk stayed in the water fro a little longer and left and ate some burger and and got their chocolate bar as it was a reward for going in the sea.

Reading Week 4 Term 4

WALT:Skim and to locate information and retell

Hi everyone!

This week reading we have been reading a story called “No Girls Allowed”. This story is about a girl who likes Rugby and want’s to learn how to play properly. So she goes to one the classes but she is told that she can not play because it is an all boys team and they don’t allow her to join. That was our instructional reading text. Our reading text was A interesting situation.   That is about and girl selling lemonade or water with yellow food colouring in it. Any way. So on Monday when Mrs.Lee a teacher who had gone to camp to said to us. “As last week we had gone to Camp I have not planed anything for reading if you just give my 5 minutes I will plan something. Till then read the play A interesting situation, write why it is called an interesting situation on a google drawing and recreate a scene of the story, On the same google drawing.” So that is what we also did as part of reading. Here it is.

So overall this is my work from this week I only did one task because on Tuesday I was not here wednesday we were out of school practicing for the choir and Thursday we HAVE to blog no matter where we are up to in our reading. So there it is my reading work for this week. I have notice something in my reading work lately I only do one create task or task I don’t know if started mucking around during reading or I am not working fats enough. Maths Activity 5

WALT: Round numbers with one decimal place to the nearest whole numbers

Hi Everyone!

This week as you all know Kereru is on camp. (Kereru is a learning space we do learning with).  Before they left for camp my maths teacher who is on camp. Gave us a maths task which was to find the Area and perimeter and find the area of 6 or 7 fields and present them on a slide show. The scenario to find the perimeter was “A farmer needs some fencing for his fields the dimensions of the field are (e.g 21.7 and 12.8)” we rounded the decimals and added them together and finally doubled it. that was the perimeter. For the area the scenario was. “Now that the farmer has some fencing he needs some seed to plant some plants. Each bag of seeds covers 1 square meter find the Area.” So those were the 2 questions given and in those 2 question there are sub-questions so remember that too. Here is the Slide-Show.

WALT:Show a developing understand of texts.

Hi Everyone

This week in reading we read a story called as smooth as silk. The story describes how 1 kid and their parents went to the beach and the kid went swimming and saw a octopus and showed her parents but the process the octopus almost got killed. This week for our create tasks there were 2 create tasks. Create task 1 was finish the slideshow about about swimming. Create task 2. Was to  show 5 rules to stay safe at the beach. I did create task 1 and 2. We did our reading in homerooms since the other learning space we do learning with was on camp here is my work.
